2015 MAS Conference and Annual General Meeting

The 2015 Manitoba Archaeological Society Conference and Annual General Meeting will be held in Winnipeg September 25th-27th. This year’s conference will focus on the Glacial Lake Agassiz Survey (GLAS), which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. GLAS was a four-year project in environmental archaeology. It involved a systematic investigation of potential shoreline occupations of early Glacial Lake Agassiz in order to record and excavate Early Pre-European contact period sites that would have been located on its shoreline. An additional highlight will be a Friday tour of the Tie Creek Petroform Site in Whiteshell Provincial Park. CALL FOR SESSIONS, PAPERS AND POSTERS
We are currently accepting abstract submissions on any topic relevant to archaeology. Abstracts should be 150-200 words. Please submit via e-mail to Brad Hyslop at vesselquest@sympatico.ca and the MAS at mbarch@mts.net. Note: Abstracts due by August 31st. CONFERENCE VENUE

BANQUET
Saturday Evening Banquet & Tribute to the Glacial Lake Agassiz Survey The Saturday evening banquet will feature chicken wellington, spinach salad with balsamic vinaigrette, fresh vegetables, roasted fingerling potatoes, and vanilla bean crème brûlée with fresh berries for dessert accompanied by coffee and tea. Speeches after dinner will highlight stories from the GLAS and will profile members of the survey team. Tickets for the banquet are $55 per person.
