2016 MAS Conference and Annual General Meeting

The 2016 Manitoba Archaeological Society Conference and Annual General Meeting will be held in Melita, September 23rd - 25th. This year’s conference will focus on the archaeology of southwest Manitoba, and will celebrate the work of avocational archaeologists in the region and beyond!

The conference will begin with a tour of the Brockinton and Linear Mounds sites on Friday afternoon. If you have never heard of, or been to, these sites they are a must-see! THOSE INTERESTED IN THE TOUR, PLEASE MEET AT THE WESTERN STAR HOTEL IN MELITA FOR 1PM. THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR THE TOUR. - Brockington Archaeological Site - Linear Mounds Archaeological Site On Saturday afternoon we will shake things up a bit and host an Artifact Show & Tell and Artifact Identification Roadshow from 3:00-5:00 pm. If you have a collection you’d like to share with other conference attendees bring it along! Or, if you have collected a few artifacts but would like help with identifications or more information bring those too. MAS members have a diverse range of experience and expertise and we love to share our knowledge with anyone who will listen! CALL FOR SESSIONS, PAPERS AND POSTERS We are currently accepting abstract submissions on any topic relevant to archaeology. Abstracts should be 150-200 words. The MAS would like to apologize for a pricing error in our conference rates, the revised rates have now been updated. Anyone who registered under the previous rates will receive a refund for the difference at the conference in Melita. We are very sorry for the inconvenience but do hope that you’ll appreciate the lower prices to attend our fabulous conference!

BANQUET Saturday Evening Banquet The Saturday evening banquet will be a real treat, a delicious Ukrainian feast of perogies, farmer’s sausage, and all the fixings. Tickets for the banquet are $25 per person.
