Knife River Flint Tool
Another Knife River Flint tool was recovered today in Unit 7. It was a broken retouched flake and may have been used as a cutting implement. Knife River Flint appears to have been a popular material for making a variety of stone tools at the Healing Site including a projectile point, scrapers, flakes and retouched flakes. Today’s participants spent part of the day in the lab learning about pottery, how stone tools were made and how to tell different kinds of animal, fish and bird bones apart.
